About Braida

Braida, a family-owned winery in Monferrato, is known for its exceptional Barbera and white wines. Founded by Giacomo Bologna, the estate reflects a deep passion for winemaking and the unique terroir of Rocchetta Tanaro.

Braida's story is deeply intertwined with Rocchetta Tanaro, a charming town in the Monferrato area. As Paolo Frola, the local GP and chansonnier, puts it, “My village is not a surprise, it is ten vineyards, six houses, one church." This line inspired by the Barbera of Rocchetta features vineyards owned by Braida, passed down from grandfather Giuseppe to his son Giacomo, and now cultivated by Giuseppe and Raffaella Bologna. Giacomo’s entrepreneurial spirit transformed this estate, while “Braida,” the nickname from his father Giuseppe's handball days, was passed down along with a love for sport, horses, and Barbera vineyards on the Rocchetta hills.

Braida’s vineyards lie between the Monferrato Astigiano and Langhe districts, with the heart of the estate in Rocchetta Tanaro’s sandy-clay soils. Here, the prized crus of Bricco dell’Uccellone and Montebruna flourish, along with Grignolino d’Asti Limonte from silt-rich soils. Additional vineyards in Castelnuovo Calcea and Costigliole d’Asti feature light, calcareous soils, while Moscato is cultivated in Mango's sandy-calcareous soils. Braida also produces still white wines under the Serra dei Fiori label in collaboration with brothers Renzo and Valerio Giacosa, showcasing the estate's rich diversity and passion for its land.
